We'd love to share some of our favourite local spots with you. Here are a few of our favourite walks and places, all within a short drive of The Robin's Nest.
Right on the doorstep, you can immerse yourself in a pine forest that's teaming with wildlife just a 5 minute walk from the cottage. Maps and books with details of the woodland trails can be found on the bookshelves in the cottage.
One of the last remaining tracts of ancient Caledonian pine forest in the country, Rothiemurchus forest is a wonderful place to explore on foot or by bike. If you're lucky you may see some of our native pinewood species such as the red squirrel, crested tit or Scottish Crossbill. Scottish wildcats and capercaillie are also found in the forest, but you have to be very lucky indeed to catch a glimpse of these rare species.
Loch Morlich and Glenmore Forest
Uath Lochans, near Feshiebridge
This place is one of our absolute favourites. There's a choice of a flat walk around the lochans themselves or a slightly hillier walk with this fantastic view over the lotions and Glen Feshie hills. It really is a special place and highly recommended for a visit during your stay. It's not far from the village of Kincraig, a 35 minute drive from The Robin's Nest.
